Against the backdrop of the magnificent Witpoorjtie Waterfall, this Garden covers almost 300 ha of landscaped and natural veld areas, consisting of a mosaic of grassland and flora with dense bush in kloofs and along streams. The variety of habitats accommodate over 600 naturally occurring plant species. A breeding pair of majestic Verreaux’s Eagles nest on the cliffs alongside the waterfall, and the Garden is home to 220 bird species and number of reptile and small mammals, including small antelope and jackal. The JCI Geological Trail runs along the Roodekrans Ridge and there is a walking trail along the boardwalk to visit the wetlands and bird hide. The Cycad Garden contains a collection of these ancient plants from over South Africa. A Geological Display Garden exhibiting rocks and mining minerals such as gold and platinum is wonderfully landscaped for viewing. Strelitzia Hall can be hired for a variety of functions.
