LOWVELD NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDEN

Nelspruit
 NATURE

The Lowveld National Botanical Garden occupies an outstandingly beautiful site in the subtropical heart of Mpumalanga Province.

Situated on the picturesque banks of the Crocodile River, it boasts spectacular scenery, wonderful picnic spots and peace and tranquillity as only nature can provide. It is the only Botanical Garden in this province and is within easy reach of other well-known tourist attractions such as Kruger National Park, God’s Window, Pilgrim’s Rest, The Pinnacle and Blyde River Canyon, to name but a few.

A visit to the Garden can easily be fitted into any tourist’s schedule, being a well-worthwhile day trip or a convenient stopover to spend an hour or two en route to the other attractions of the Lowveld.

The Garden has many wonderful and unique attractions including: a tropical African rain forest, recreated outside a greenhouse with an aerial boardwalk taking you into the canopy; one of the largest living fossil (Cycad) collections in the world; and specimens of over two thirds of South Africa’s trees.

The Garden is a birding paradise and is home to 233 bird species. It is also a haven for many animals - nature lovers will definitely not be disappointed.

Guided tours can be arranged on request and picnic concerts in the Garden take place throughout the year.
Our environmental education centre provides educational tours for school children on request.
